We are delighted to include episode one of a new three-part Arts for Health podcast series in our Bealtaine exhibition this year!
Cabhair is the first part of a short collection of podcasts exploring different aspects of the Arts for Health Partnership Programme. In January 2024, musician Liz Clark visited Skibbereen Day Care Centre to talk all things music! This podcast captures a collection of songs and stories shared by the day care attendees. We hear about thrashing days, music lessons, sessions in houses, and dancing! We’re also treated to snippets of beautiful songs like Mary of Argyle and The Boys of Kilmichael. It is a wonderful example of how music has shaped people’s lives and brought them together, and continues to do so today.
Cabhair is the Irish word for help. A participant mentions it in this episode. It perfectly captures the sense of community that music can bring to people’s lives.
