Collaborative Quilt is a collection of work made by Creative Carers participants in Mizen Head. It is on display at Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre as part of Bealtaine Festival 2024.
Since October 2023, Arts for Health artist Sharon Dipity has facilitated monthly Creative Carers workshops on Mizen Head. These sessions are organised in collaboration with Local Link worker Lorna Harte. The workshops invited family carers to relax, connect with others, and explore their creativity in a safe and welcoming space. They are part of a network of Creative Carers sessions taking place across West Cork. The programme is a community-based strand of Arts for Health Partnership Programme. Initiated in 2022, it creates opportunities to engage with the arts, for and with family carers.
Sharon’s series of workshops in Mizen included the technical exploration of Gelli printing. Participants applied paint, textures, and stencils to the gelatine plate to allow for the creation of layers of colour and pattern. Through this process, participants created a vast array of beautiful prints.
Collaborative Quilt is exhibited at Uillinn from 1 May – 1 June.
