Artist Tess Leak, puppeteer Eoin Lynch and composer/musician Justin Grounds during their week of devising a new work in collaboration with Arts for Health participants in St. Joseph’s unit, Bantry General Hospital.
Composer Darragh Kearns-Hayes and mentor Bob Karper from London Based company ‘Ladder to the Moon’ also joined the group in both the hospital and the studio to help develop the interactive show full of poetry, folk songs, original music and puppets!
‘Reading the Sky’ is performance made in collaboration between artist Tess Leak, puppeteer Eoin Lynch, composer’s Justin Grounds and Darragh Kearns Hayes and participants of the Arts for Health programme based in St. Joseph’s wards, Bantry General Hospital.
It is an entertaining, interactive show full of poetry, folk songs, original music and puppets.
Set in a ‘Well-Field’ during a raucous Village Fair, the artists and participants bring to life new poems about childhood friends,kindness and a dancing moose-fur coat.
The programme is currently being developed as part of Arts for Health Partnership Programme and is funded by an Arts Council Project Award. The project has also received a artsandhealth.ie film documentation award which will be directed by Sharon Whooley and screened at CUCI organised by Waterford Healing Arts Trust. Peer sharing and discussion on the work will take place at Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre and Crawford Art Gallery in the spring.
