Have you seen the Scare of Crows?!
As you wander through the terrifying selection of ghouls, goblins, zombies and more on display for Leap Scarecrow Festival 2023, keep your eyes peeled for these fantastic artworks made by Arts for Health participants at Skibbereen Community Hospital with artist Sharon Dipity.
Beginning with ink drawings of crows, the participants then modelled their crows using plastic milk cartons, up-cycled bamboo, and old newspapers. Finished with re-used fabric wings, the crows are now happily soaring along the railings in the centre of the town. The festival encouraged makers to use found and upcycled materials, and you can see this reflected in every scarecrow that’s popped up in Leap’s nooks and cranny’s over the last few days.
Leap Scarecrow Festival is running from Monday 23rd October – Sunday 5th November and has a thrilling line-up of events on offer. See the full schedule here.
