In PRIDE month 2021 we are pleased to announce, Artist, Toma McCullim is bringing a group of LGBTQ+ people in West Cork together. To be connected in this very unconnected time. To contribute to a collective art project and create something meaningful together.

This group welcomes people, over 50 who identify as lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transsexual, queer, funny or weird, and all those who wiggle around those labels.

Toma describes, ‘It is named Salt & Pepper, in acknowledgement of our greying hair and because we represent a whole spectrum of being, without us life would be pretty boring. We are the essential spice of life ! We are all over 50 and we have learned a thing or two on our journey! Being ‘Out’ means different things to different people. This group acknowledges everyone’s right to their own privacy. So if want to use a nickname on the group or choose not to show your face that’s ok. And to be free to shout from the rooftops !

Toma McCullim brings 20 years of participative arts practice, as well as her film skills in production design and mentorship from her wife award winning filmmaker Carmel Winters to create a short film that explores with her gay peers what it means to be older and LGBT+ in today’s Ireland.

There are only a small number of places on this art project, if you are interested please email info@westcorkartscentre.com
