Salt and Pepper is a new group for older people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans or a sprinkle of all those terms and shake of others.
We are Salt and Pepper because we are at the time of life when our hair is starting to speckle but we are also the essential spice of life!
Artist Toma McCullim working with Uillinn West Cork Art Centre would like to invite you to join us for Out in the Park beginning on Saturday 7 May, where we will be meeting up on park benches around West Cork for chats and reminiscing. We will be talking all things queer and quare, having guffaw’s and giggles and discussing our dreams and ideas. So bring a story, or a photo, a flask of tea and an egg sandwich and join us for a sunny afternoon in the park. Each park date will have a host from the locality, and we will be travelling to Ballydehob, Dunmanway, Bantry, of course dear old Skibbereen.
Toma says, ‘This group is an open invitation to LGBT+ people over 50 and under 110 to get together and make friends. Come along and see what you think. No pressure to be anything or anyone but you, this group is for people who are quiet, loud, introverted or extravagant, all shapes, and shoe size.’
Where does the art come in? Well while we are chatting we will see what the group might like to create together.
Beginning in May to mark the beginning of Bealtaine this project will take place over 6 weeks concluding during Pride week 25 June 2022
