Transformative Explorations in Montage
Clonakilty Community Hospital
Beginning in January 2025, residents of Clonakilty Community Hospital, alongside visual artists Sharon dipity and Emma Scully, adopted the theme of New Year’s resolutions and transformation as the focus of their project.
Four poems speaking about transformation introduced the topic, while participants worked together to create collages and montages. Starting off with colourful sheets of paper, the group then searched magazines for interesting images to juxtapose the creation of new pieces. In other sessions, different media and techniques were introduced to enhance the work, including oil pastels, paint, printmaking, stencilling, and stamping.
Participants created dynamic collage and mixed-media montages, which were later exhibited as part of Bealtaine Festival 2025 at Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre.
