Skibbereen Painted Objects

Skibbereen Day Care Centre

Inspired by the painted tin trays of artist William Crozier, who lived in Kilcoe, Arts for Health participants at Skibbereen Day Care Centre worked with artist Michael Greenlaw to create their own painted objects.

This short project aimed to involve as many of the Day Care Centre attendees as possible in creating their own artworks. The project utilised objects found in charity shops. Over three sessions, participants had the opportunity to draw and paint the objects. They then turned each one into a work of art by applying gloss paint. The finished results were displayed in an Edwardian display case, with each object clearly labelled with the participants name.

The objects were exhibited for three weeks. When the exhibition ended, participants took their individual artworks home.
