On Tuesday 20th February, a group of 15 artists and creative facilitators gathered at Uillinn WCAC for the final day of our newly developed training programme An Introduction to Social Prescribing Creative Engagement in County Cork.
Organised in partnership with Cork County Council, the first of its kind training took the form of a three day hybrid programme featuring an array of knowledgeable and inspiring speakers. The programme aimed to prepare participants to work as an artist/creative facilitator within social prescribing contexts through understanding social prescribing structures nationally and globally, learning from artists with relevant experience, understanding their role in this setting, and preparing accessible, enjoyable workshops as part of Cork County Council’s upcoming Arts and Chats initiative. Social prescribing creative engagement is a new area for us all and we aimed to undertake this learning journey together.
Over the three days, we had wonderful discussions and offered a space for artists with overlapping interests to connect and collaborate with each other. We look forward to seeing the beautiful work that comes from this, and hope to meet everyone again soon!
