Dath – Inspired by Colour

Dath brings a beautiful pop of colour to the Stairwell Gallery as part of Uillinn’s Bealtaine Exhibition this year!

Residents of Silverwood, Clonakilty Community Hospital created these pieces, working with visual artist Emma Scully. Throughout March 2026, the group explored, and were inspired by, colour. The work focuses on expression through colour and texture. Participants created each piece using oil pastels. Dath, the title of the works, is the Irish word for colour.

At the end of March, Dath featured at Clonakilty’s Arts and Minds Festival. Emma Scully organised an exhibition which included multiple projects from Arts for Health participants in Clonakilty. The series of four works inspired by colour featured alongside Stitch by Stitch, Ceramic Village, and Leaves of Gold. The festival, now in its second year, celebrated the abundant creativity of the town!

Bealtaine Festival

Dath is a wonderful addition to our Bealtaine celebrations this year. The Bealtaine Exhibition at Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre is running from 1 – 31 May. Call in to see these beautiful artworks, as well as a wonderful selection of Arts for Health projects from the last year.

Bealtaine at Uillinn reflects the relationships we have built with artists, older people and our health and education partners across West Cork. The work shared is the result of time, trust and creative conversation. At Uillinn, we believe creativity should be accessible to everyone. Bealtaine is a powerful reminder of what happens when people are given the space, support and encouragement to make art.
