Susan McManamon – Clonakilty Community Hospital, Dunmanway & Castletownbere Day Care Centres, 2016
Susan hails from Cork and has lived in Germany and India for a number of years. She loves to travel and experience the music of other cultures. Having developed a love of music early in life, she trained classically in piano from age 8. After a long musical hiatus, she left her career in the corporate sector to pursue her passion in music full-time in 2013 and hasn’t looked back since. She completed her MA in Ethnomusicology at University College Cork with first class honours in 2015. She plays piano with The Vespertine Quintet sharing a love of beautiful, sparse, minimalistic music by composers such as Arvo Pärt and Ólafur Arnalds. It has been a real delight for Susan to rediscover the joy of group performance. Susan sang with, conducted and accompanied a number of choirs including Myross Choir, Passage West Church Choir and the Baltimore Singers. She believes in the power of music and feels passionate about keeping fun, inclusivity, accessibility, excellence and sustainability at the core of her musical endeavours.
