Sinéad Cullen

Sinéad Cullen

Sinéad, originally from Wexford, now lives in Allihies on the Beara peninsula where she swims all year round, cherishes its elemental wildness, and loves rural community life.

She graduated from DTU with a 1st class architecture degree in 1996, received a 1st class MSc in Architecture: Environment and Energy Studies from CAT Wales in 2008, and received a Postgraduate Level 9 Certificate in Creativity and Change from Crawford Art College in 2020. In 2016, she also qualified as a Movement Medicine teacher, with a focus on nurturing creativity through movement.

She is fascinated with personal and collective processes of trauma recovery, the concept of home and how we become more at home in our bodies, community and natural environment. She is passionate about creating spaces and places that honour the natural world and respect the lives of future generations.

Sinéad spent many years living and learning in Indigenous and intentional communities and is inspired by their unbroken connection with the natural world, the collective creative force of Indigenous craft and Artivism, and the social justice embedded in their dynamic forms of governance.

Sinéad’s work spans drawing, model making, fibre art, and installation. She finds beauty in the repetition of simple movements or shapes, which combine to create complex patterns and forms. Her projects range from engaging children and adults in creating micro gardens to designing co-housing communities, appreciating how the shift in scale brings fresh perspectives and abundant inspiration.
