A little bit of Grá

Grá (2026) is a short film made by Toma McCullim and editor Julie Ballands. The film documents the Salt & Pepper Collective’s Grá exhibition at Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre.

The Salt & Pepper LGBTQI+ Art Collective selected pieces from the Crawford Art Gallery Collection to form Grá. The collective worked collaboratively with artist Toma McCullim. Taking place from 12 July to 20 September 2025, the exhibition celebrated love in all its forms.

Grá drew on historic and contemporary treasures from the national collection to explore themes of connection, identity, and belonging. Artists from the Salt & Pepper Collective responded to the curated selection, offering personal reflections on individual works in the exhibition. These new pieces also formed part of the exhibition.

The project formed part of Crawford Art Gallery’s Touring & Sharing programme, bringing the national collection to new audiences during its temporary closure for redevelopment. With guidance from Dr. Michael Waldron, Curator of Collections and Special Projects at Crawford Art Gallery, Salt & Pepper engaged deeply with the collection to shape a diverse and inclusive exhibition for Uillinn. This was further enriched by a dynamic public programme of talks, tours, workshops and events.

Crawford Art Gallery, the Arts Council / An Chomahairle Ealaíon, and the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport supported Grá at Uillinn. From 2022 to 2025, the HSE, South West Region, Community Work Department, funded Salt & Pepper.
