As part of the forthcoming Bealtaine Programme, we are delighted to bring a project from Arts for Health in the Community Hospitals to the wider public in partnership with Age & Opportunity, Roots and Shoots initiative.
This wonderful project originally took place over March and April of this year in the community Hospitals of West Cork. It incorporated a series of five postal packages and weekly zoom workshops. Each package was carefully designed artists Sharon Dipity and Sarah Ruttle to stimulate conversation, making and storytelling . The artists each brought a unique element of their practice in the is wonderful collaboration, that is both aesthetically exquisite and playful.
Artists Sharon Dipity and Sarah Ruttle invite participants to a Little Light Pocket Theatre, an online workshop to create a miniature pop-up theatre to illustrate your dreams for a sustainable future, reflecting on the themes of community, connecting and the environment. Participants will engage in illustration, paper construction and storytelling, exploring questions such as ‘how would you like our world to look in the future?’ and ‘what is working now that you would keep?’ ‘How do you envisage the future?’ We will particularly focus on our relationship with the planet, discussing how we can work towards a creative and sustainable future as a community.
You will be invited to set the scene for your pop-up set design and develop characters and props through drawing which can be used to initiate stories to complete the theatre.
Little Light Pocket Theatre Workshop is free to take part in suitable for all abilities and aimed at older people staying safe at home.. If you are interested please get in touch soon as there are only 10 places available and booking is essential. Once booking is confirmed, you will be sent a parcel of materials to use during the workshop.
